Headhunters "Evolution Revolution" Album Review

Homemade? Caution with rewards
I like this release, But it's inconsistant. Bad News: some of the cuts sound like home recordings mastered on to a cassette tape and left in the sun on someone's dashboard. Woah...who Mastered that? Spot? Okay.... Most of the cuts sound "okay". Not real good, just "okay". (We're talkin' production values here, not music).
The music on this Headhunters release is like a couple big handfulls of all kinds of stuff (styles) thrown out in the yard. You get chicken farm blues and everything. Not that it's bad if you're a collecter(except a few tunes' recording values, which we covered). There's a lot o really nice stuff here, too. It just seems like big money studios forsook (forsaked?) the Headhuners when it came to mastering this piece. BUTTTT !!!! most of it's NOT BAD ! It's just not the "Headhunters" of yore.
Ok...this CD has alot of nice music on it. Is that Benny? When did he start sounding so .... uh.... smooth...? OK. I can dig it. Nothing rips your face off like 20 years ago, not that that's not bad. Having felt all that, the music on this CD is actually really pretty interesting. The sound is bland, but the music transcendes the production values, for sure. Really... it's a prety good CD (except for a few cuts). I like it.
